Santorum: Liberals ‘are the anti-science ones’

Is this guy fucking kidding? Let’s start with the “phony theology” comment, which he now says was misinterpreted by “less-than-erudite members of the press corps.” No, Rick, you’re the one with the less-than-stellar vocabulary. Believing that the Earth and nature is something to be protected and not destroyed because of humanity’s arrogance is not a theology, it’s an ideology. But, the bigger problem here is the absolute fucking arrogance with which he dismisses that ideology. He treats it as an absolutely ridiculous notion that humans are no more important than anything else on this planet and that, in fact, we should be the ones serving as caretakers of nature. Man is just one of a variety of species present on the planet. And what if there are some people who feel we should be subservient to the Earth? Who the fuck are you to dismiss them as crazy? You believe in creationism for crying out loud. You want to argue about religious freedom, but dismiss as insanity any ideas that don’t line up with yours.

But, the real gem here is when he says, “because unlike the Earth, we’re intelligent and we can actually manage things.” Once again, is this a fucking joke? We don’t manage things properly, we consume and consume and consume regardless of the destruction it might cause. Why does he think we have to have environmental legislation and red tape to protect pieces of land and certain species? Because without them, we destroy entire ecosystems and hunt animals to the point of extinction. That’s how intelligent we are. That’s how good at management we are. The Earth is run by natural laws, wherein animals simply act according to their instincts, which have them living within a certain cycle to protect both them and their environment. The earth does not deforest itself. Other animals do not over-hunt. The Earth manages itself just fine you pompous asshole.

He argues that not wanting to exploit nature for the benefit of technological advancement is “anti-science,” yet he previously opposed stem-cell research on the grounds that “it’s a utilitarian, materialistic view of doing whatever they can to pursue their desired goals.” So wait, when it’s in conflict with your specific ideology, then using available resources for the purpose of research is materialistic and lacking “moral compulsion,” but when you don’t give a flying fuck about nature because it’s not within the scope of your ideology, then the people who oppose you are “anti-science”? Nice job on the hypocrisy you giant mouth-flapping cunt.

Then lastly, he sponsors a bill that supports teaching creationism alongside evolution and reasons it appropriate because: “Where topics are taught that may generate controversy (such as biological evolution), the curriculum should help students to understand the full range of scientific views that exist, why such topics may generate controversy, and how scientific discoveries can profoundly affect society.” First of all, evolution doesn’t generate controversy among people with working brains. It’s a fact accepted by the entire scientific community. And secondly, creationism is not a “scientific view.” It has no peer reviewed research and presents no falsifiable hypotheses. If you’re going to call that a scientific view, shouldn’t we also include Greek and Norse creation mythology? You don’t want a “range” of views taught, you want your view taught, regardless of it’s complete lack of scientific merit.

Essentially, Rick Santorum is one of the biggest fucking morons I’ve ever seen, and yet somehow he actually has a chance to be the President.

Sarcasm is a dear friend.
